A MiFi hotspot or a mobile hotspot is a portable, pocket-size wireless router that can be used to access the internet on various instruments while you’re moving or traveling. A MiFi device can be connected to a cellular network and provide Internet access via Wi-Fi for up to ten devices. MiFi is mainly used by people who share the internet between several devices via Wi-Fi using a mobile SIM card to reduce costs. It is also used for those who need to provide mobile internet for their mobile phones, laptops, and tablets due to their jobs during in-town trips, travels, and missions in different countries. The MiFi can support smartphones, tablets, laptops, e-book readers, portable gaming devices, mp3 players, and more.
MiFi hotspots Usecases
There are several kinds of Mobile hotspots based on their applications:
1- Pocket MiFi: Tiny, portable devices supported by different cellular carriers broadcasting 3G/4G signals.
2- Wi-Fi dongles: Plug-and-play devices using the other equipment USB port as a power resource.
3- Smartphone Mobile hotspot: The mobile equipment provides a Wi-Fi hotspot for nearby devices.
The MiFi devices allow users to easily attach to multiple iPhones, iPads, PCs, and many other devices. They are much easier to operate than USB dongles. On the other hand, although smartphone mobile hotspots can also be used to access the internet during travel, they are not as fast and reliable as MiFi hotspots.
